Under Graduate Diploma in Business Management

Programme Overview

The Undergraduate Diploma in Business Administration is designed to develop learners’ managerial knowledge, analytical capability, and decision-making competence within contemporary business environments. The programme builds on prior foundational business studies and workplace experience, enabling learners to progress towards supervisory and middle-management roles across a range of organisational contexts.

The programme focuses on the practical application of business concepts to support effective managerial decision-making. Learners develop the ability to analyse organisational information, evaluate alternatives, and exercise professional judgement in both predictable and less predictable business situations. Emphasis is placed on strategic thinking, financial and data-driven decision-making, leadership and people management, digital strategy, marketing intelligence, and innovation.

A distinctive feature of the programme is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) as a managerial decision-support tool. Learners explore how AI and digital technologies are increasingly used to enhance analytics, financial forecasting, customer insight, people management, and business model innovation. The programme adopts a critical and responsible approach to AI, ensuring that learners understand its benefits, limitations, ethical implications, and governance requirements within organisational settings.

Aligned to MQF Level 5, the programme enables learners to exercise autonomy and take responsibility for decision-making within defined managerial roles. Learners are encouraged to evaluate evidence, assess risk and performance, and justify decisions using data-informed and ethically grounded approaches. The programme supports the development of transferable managerial skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and ethical awareness.

On completion, learners are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competences required to contribute effectively to business operations and management functions, or to progress to further studies at MQF Level 6 in business-related disciplines.

General Assessment Approach

The assessment method, learning outcomes, pass mark, and grading criteria for the Diploma in Business Management remain identical across all modes of delivery, namely 100% Face-to-Face, 100% Online, and Blended Learning. This approach ensures parity of standards, fairness, and consistency in assessment, in line with the MFHEA Referencing Framework.

All assessments within the programme are 100% individual, 3000-word assignment-based, and designed to evaluate the same learning outcomes regardless of the mode of study. While teaching and learning activities may differ in terms of delivery format, assessment requirements and academic expectations do not vary between modes.

All modules within the programme are assessed through 100% individual assignment-based assessment, ensuring consistency across delivery modes and alignment with MQF Level 5 requirements.

Assessments are designed to:

  • Measure achievement of module learning outcomes
  • Encourage application of knowledge in familiar and predictable contexts
  • Accommodate different learning styles and abilities
  • Promote fairness, transparency, and academic integrity

Assignments are practical, structured, and guided, focusing on real-world or simulated business scenarios appropriate to MQF Level 5.

Types of Assessment Techniques

While the assessment weighting remains 100% assignment-based, assignments may take different formats to cater to diverse learners, including:

  • Written assignments or reports
  • Case-based scenario analysis
  • Reflective accounts linked to workplace or simulated activities
  • Practical tasks supported by written explanations
  • Digital submissions such as presentations, business documents, or portfolios

All assignments are individual and assessed against clearly defined marking criteria aligned with learning outcomes.

Assessment Submission

All assignments, irrespective of the mode of delivery, are submitted electronically through the institution’s designated online learning platform. This applies equally to learners enrolled in face-to-face, online, or blended modes.

Online submission enables:

  • Systematic plagiarism detection and academic integrity checks
  • Consistent record-keeping and version control
  • Timely feedback and grade release
  • Standardised quality assurance and moderation procedures

The use of a single digital submission system ensures that all learners are assessed under equivalent conditions and that academic integrity is upheld consistently across the programme.

This assessment approach supports transparency, fairness, and alignment with MFHEA quality assurance requirements while accommodating multiple delivery modes without compromising assessment standards.
